Prof. Dr. Juel Jarani

Co-Founder & Project Manager | Albanian Sport Science Association (ASSA)

Prof. Dr. Juel Jarani is the Co-Founder and Project Manager of the Albanian Sport Science Association (ASSA), where he leads the development, implementation, and scientific coordination of national and international research, education, and innovation projects.

As one of the founders of ASSA, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the Association into a leading organization dedicated to advancing sport science, physical activity, health, education, and sustainable community development. His work has been instrumental in expanding ASSA’s international partnerships, strengthening research capacity, and positioning the Association as a trusted partner in European programmes and collaborative initiatives.

Within ASSA, Prof. Jarani oversees scientific research, project development, quality assurance, and international cooperation. He has successfully coordinated and contributed to numerous Erasmus+, research, and capacity-building projects, promoting evidence-based practice, youth empowerment, physical activity, healthy lifestyles, social inclusion, and innovation through sport and education.

Prof. Jarani is a distinguished academic and researcher with extensive experience in higher education, scientific research, and university leadership. He previously served as Vice Rector for Scientific Research at the Sports University of Tirana (2013–2020) and as Acting Rector during the 2014–2015 academic year.

He earned his PhD in Physical Activity and Health from the University Institute of Motor Sciences (IUSM), Rome, Italy, and holds a European Master’s Degree in Physical Activity and Health, developed through collaboration between IUSM (Italy), the University of Southern Denmark, and the German Sport University Cologne. He also holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Tirana in cooperation with the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (USA).

His research focuses on physical activity, public health, children’s health, physical education, sport performance, and evidence-based policy development. He has authored and co-authored numerous scientific publications, monographs, and international peer-reviewed articles indexed in Web of Science and Scopus, with significant international recognition and citations.

Prof. Jarani actively contributes to the international scientific community through leadership roles in professional organizations, editorial boards, scientific journals, and international expert committees. His commitment to research excellence, innovation, and international collaboration continues to strengthen ASSA’s contribution to science, education, and community impact.
